The full line up was announced on the 25th February, but sometimes surprises can happen! We're pleased and proud to announce that the legendary guitarist of Guns n' Roses and Velvet Revolver SLASH has just confirmed his participation at HELLFEST on Saturday 19th June along with ALICE COOPER, TWISTED SISTER, etc…

Many of you (like us to be honest!) thought that the bill was definitely closed and that there wouldn't be any more additions, but what could we do? Could we refuse to see such a legend on the festival's stage? We decided to give you this little gift which will, for sure, satisfy all the fans of hard rock.

SLASH To Be Honored At Third Annual SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL - Mar. 29, 2010

Legendary guitarist Slash will be honored at the third annual Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF). SSMF will celebrate Slash, who is synonymous with The Sunset Strip, for his contributions to the history of The Strip as well as the music industry. The tribute event kicks off the three-day music fest and honors icons who have made an impact on the legacy of The Sunset Strip. The August 26 event will take place at the House of BluesSunset Strip.

Adding to the celebration, the City of West Hollywood will also declare August 26, 2010 "Slash Day."

"I am sincerely overwhelmed to be the recipient of the Sunset Strip Music Festival honors! The Strip and West Hollywood have been my stomping grounds since I was a little kid," noted Slash. "I grew up in and around the music scene here. It is where I got my start in the music business and where I still feel most at home. Thank you so much."

Known for his skillful, soulful hard-rock guitar solos, Slash's career has continued to grow from his early days performing at the Whisky A Go-Go with GUNS N' ROSES to his collaborations with Michael Jackson ("Black And White", "Give In To Me"), Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and directors Quentin Tarantino and Darren Aronofsky (core contributions to the "Jackie Brown" soundtrack and the signature sound of the score to "The Wrestler").

Slash traces his love of music and exploring spirit to his childhood in England, where his father introduced him to the sounds of THE BEATLES, THE ROLLING STONES, YARDBIRDS and other classic, groundbreaking acts. He got an insider's view through his teen years after the family moved to Los Angeles, his father a graphic artist who worked with David Geffen for such artists as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell and his mother a costume designer for many top pop artists. Almost on a whim, he and friend Steve Adler started playing music together; Slash on guitar and Adler on drums. In the early '80s, influenced by such bands as Lemmy's MOTÖRHEAD, he and Adler formed a band, recruiting bassist Duff McKagan. Within a year, with the addition of singer Axl Rose and guitarist Izzy Stradlin, the venture had morphed into GUNS N' ROSES — and by the end of the decade had changed the course of rock history.

Slash has also lent his talents to bands SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and the Grammy Award-winning VELVET REVOLVER as well as a self-titled solo album, which features guest spots from artists including Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Lemmy, WOLFMOTHER's Andrew Stockdale and Adam Levine (MAROON 5) among others, set for release on April 6.

"You cannot mention The Sunset Strip without thinking of Slash. His influence changed the course of rock and roll and can be seen daily on The Strip," stated Todd Steadman, executive director of the Sunset Strip Music Festival. "He continues to support The Sunset Strip and has been a part of the festival from its inaugural year, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate him for his contributions to this legendary music boulevard."

"Building on the first two successful events, we're certain that this year's festival will be an amazing celebration of The Strip, its history and great music. That celebration will be even more exciting with the recognition of Slash as one of the festival honorees. He has energized audiences worldwide, but holds a special place in the ongoing legacy of The Sunset Strip."

Previous SSMF honorees include Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine, who helped shape the live music experience on The Strip with the creation of The Roxy Theatre, The Rainbow and the Whisky A Go-Go, and rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, whose first U.S. performance was at the Whisky with BLACK SABBATH in 1970.

Similar to the 2009 SSMF, this year's event will feature live performances in all six music venues (Cat Club, House of Blues, Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go) on Friday, August 27 and Saturday, August 28. The three-day event will conclude with a street festival on Saturday, August 28, which includes a street closure from San Vicente Boulevard to Doheny Drive allowing for outdoor stages as well as live performances throughout the day and night in the music venues.

Slash verrà celebrato al terzo festival annuale del Sunset Strip Music Festival

Verrà onorato come icona musicale sinonimo del Sunset Srtip e per il suo contributo alla storia del Sunset come anche dell'industria della muscia. Sarà un eventi delle durata di tre giorni.

La città di West Holliwood dichiararà il 26 Agosto 2010 "Slash Day"!

"Sono travolto dall'idea di ricevere questo riconoscimente perchè lo Strip e West Holwood sono stati i luoghi dove ho girato sin da ragazzino" sottolinea Slash "Sono cresciuto dentroe e attorno la scena musicale dello Strip. Qui è dove ha avuto inizio la mia carriera musicale ed il posto dove mi sento a casa. Grazie!"

L'articolo continua parlando delle influenze dell'artiste e di tutti i personaggi che hanno collaborato con lui. Dice che ha partecipato alle colonne sonore di "Jackie Brown" e "The Wrestler". Continua parlando di tutti i musicisti con cui ha lavorato nel corso degli anni.

Il direttore esecutivo del festival aggiunge "Non si può prescindere dalla figura di Slash parlando del Sunset Strip. La sua influenza ha cambiato il corso del Rock n Roll e ciò lo si può vedere quotidianamente. Rock god Slash to launch MTV Classics on Foxtel From: AAP March 29, 2010 10:24AM

ROCK god Slash will jet into Australia next month to headline the launch of the new music channel MTV Classic.
The former Guns N' Roses guitarist will perform some of the band's classic hits, as well as tracks off his upcoming debut solo album, Slash, at the April 28 event at the Palace Theatre in Melbourne.

The new channel replaces VH1, focusing on music from the 1980s to the 2000s, and artists that shaped an MTV generation.

MTV Classic will launch on May 1 at 5pm on Foxtel and Austar

Slash lancerà il nuovo Canale televisivo MTV Classic su Foxtel si esibira in alcune canzoni del vecchio repertorio e altri pezzi tratti dal nuovo album. L'esibizione sarà il 28 Aprile 2010 a Melbourne al Palace Theatre.
Il nuovo canale sostituira il conosciuto VH1 focalizzando la propria attenzione sulla musica dagli anni 80 al 2000 ed inizierà le trasmissioni il 1 maggio alle ore 17.00.

Saul “Slash” Hudson fa rima con Gibson Les Paul.



Se la cosa ancora vi risultasse dubbia fatevi un giro a LA o in un qualsiasi negozio Guitar Center e controllate di persona e vedrete ogni possibile ed immaginabile immagine di Slash con cilindro in testa, occhiali da sole e naturalmente Les Paul by Gibson al suo fianco.
Slash non è più solo il nome di uno dei più grandi e riconosciuti chitarristi viventi ma è ora anche un sicuro “marchio” associato alla produzione di strumenti musicali e equipaggiamenti di alta qualità. Dall’esordio avvenuto più 20 anni ad oggi, non è stato difficile abbinare alla figura iconica del musicista la sua sempre amata chitarra Gibson modello “compianto” Les Paul. Con lei ha accompagnato i migliori musicisti esistenti e senza tradirla mai ha anche inciso il suo ultimo album da solista prossimamente in uscita. La dedizione del musicista riposta in quel dato modello ha portato casa Gibson a sfruttare la notorietà del talentuoso Slash per iniziare la produzione di una serie di strumenti da lui ispirati e a lui dedicati.
Accennando solamente la nel tempo lontana, produzione del modello di Gibson Les Paul in edizione “Snakepit” con celebre logo del serpente e la tastiera intarsiata alla quale è stato abbinato il più economico modello prodotta dalla Epiphone - ormai introvabili - siamo arrivati ai giorni nostri dove la partenrship tra l’artista e casa Gibson è divenuta più proficua.
Nel principio dell’era Velvet Revolver infatti abbiamo avuto la produzione dal Custom Shop di un modello Custom Gibson denominato “Slash” in colorazione tobacco sunburst costruito su specifiche dell’artista e dallo stesso utilizzato in gran parte nei tour successivi dei Velvet Revolver.
A questa produzione di serie da parte dello stabilimento di punta di casa Gibson, nell’anno 2008, è stata aggiunta l’uscita di un modello in edizione limitata denominata Gibson Slash “American Strandard” sempre dal colore tobacco sunburst e un top con piacevoli venature del legno prodotto anche in edizione più abbordabile da Epiphone.
Contemporaneamente, nell’anno 2008, il Custom Shop della Gibson ha prodotto la magnifica “Slash Aged” esatta replica del modello standard che il musicista utilizzava nell’anno 1988. Questo strumento in tonalità “Heritage Cherry” veramente caratteristico è stato prodotto in un numero limitato di esemplari alcuni prodotti con gli identici segni di invecchiamento ed usura di quello che possiede Slash con anche l’autografo sulla paletta mentre altri nuovi senza segni. Superfluo sottolineare che lo strumento è sold out.
Arrivati all’anno 2009 Gibson ha prodotto un nuovo modello in tiratura limitata di Slash “USA Standard” questa volta in colorazione “Gold Top” al quale Epiphone ha abbinato l’esatto uguale modello in edizione più economicamente abbordabile. Volete una di queste chitarre? Mi dispiace sono finite anche queste!
Siamo arrivati ai giorni nostri e possiamo documentare ancora uno strumento di casa Gibson di imminente uscita del quale però si conoscono già molti dettagli. Siamo tornati agli esordi, siamo negli anni 1986-87 in cui nasceva Appetite for Destruction e Slash utilizzava una fantastica Gibson Les Paul che, non tutti sanno, non era però originale ma un prodotto di liuteria. Si chiamava Derrig il produttore e la chitarra che Gibson sta producendo è appunto lei, l’insostituibile strumento che Slash utilizza ancora in registrazione e che non lo ha mai abbandonato nel corso di questi anni. Gibson ed Epiphone stanno facendo rivivere il mito dello strumento dal quale sono nati i riff che hanno cambiato la storia del Rock n Roll. Anche questo strumento verrà prodotto in edizione limitata e c’è da giurare che non invecchierà nelle vetrine dei negozi.
Anche Seymour Duncan, noto produttore di pick up per chitarre, ha collaborato con il musicista che da sempre si è avvalso dei celeberrimi Anico Pro II. Da questo matrimonio indissolubile quanto quello con casa Gibson siamo giunti alla produzione della riedizione dei celeberrimi Pick Up che un tempo erano montati sulla famosa Derrig. In colorazione Zebra, bianco e nero, per una cifra più abbordabile che non il costo intero di uno strumento musicale possiamo permetterci di riprodurre il celeberrimo suono che ha caratterizzato gli album in cui ha suonato Slash dagli esordi ad oggi. Per sua stessa ammissione ogni suo strumento è equipaggiato con quel dato modello di Pick Up e ciò ì, oltre al tocco dell’artista, è quello che rende assolutamente riconoscibile in mezzo ad altri il suono del chitarrista.
Nell’intervista a Guitar Center Slash afferma la sua sostanziale refrattarietà all’utilizzo di grandi catene di effetti preferendo una più lineare scelta per un buon strumento e una buona amplificazione cosa che consiglia anche ai principianti. Unica eccezione è appunto per lui è il pedale Wah Wah caratteristico nelle sue svisate da solista e definito da lui stesso come uno strumento in sé. Per rendere ancora più caratteristico ed unico il suo suono anche Dunlop – noto produttore del celeberrimo Cry Baby - ha messo in produzione un fantastico pedale Wah Wah con le specifiche del musicista. Livrea rossa metallizzata e logo dell’artista sul pedale, dotato di propri livelli di distorsione e regolazioni volute espressamente da Slash in persona.
Il vigore e l’energia di Slash nell’esecuzione dei riffs ha reso necessario lo sviluppo anche da parte di Ernie Ball di un set di corde per chitarra in edizione Signature Slash. Il musicista ha personalmente scelto detta marca di corde sin da quando da ragazzino lavorava in un negozio di strumenti musicali e dopo avere provato ogni cosa che fosse in commercio allora.
L’amplificazione per Slash è sempre stata un punto chiave e fondamentale considerata appunto la sua dedizione per il plug and play. Partendo dai primi Marshall JCM800 abbinati ad una edizione limitata degli anni ottanta in colorazione silver dello stesso prodotto siamo arriavati negli anni 90 ad un prodotto tributo al musicista da parte di Marshall: ecco la testata Slash 2555-SL fatta su esigenze ed indicazioni di Slash e che tutt’ora è il principale amplificatore utilizzato dal musicista. In fase di registrazione ha riferito di non disdegnare nemmeno un più recente Marshall in edizione Vintage Modern ma la scelta non si discosta comunque mai dalla celeberrima casa di produzione inglese. Dio salvi la Regina e preservi la produttività musicale del nostro beniamino!
Ma il buon Jim Marshall e il nostro Slash hanno in serbo una ulteriore grande sorpresa che si chiama “Marshall AFD”. Superfluo sottolinerare cosa significhi l’acronimo e come quali suoni dovrebbero uscire dal nuovo prodotto in fase di sviluppo all’ombra dell’Union Jack.
Questo è quello che Slash e le sue collaborazioni hanno portato nel campo della strumentazione musicale. Un suono unico per un musicista altrettanto inimitabile e sopra le righe.

SLASH Sets Release Week Of Activities For First Solo Album - Mar. 23, 2010

One of the greatest rock stars of our time is celebrating the release of his new album in true rock star fashion — by dominating the late night scene, late night television that is. Iconic musician Slash is known for trailblazing guitar work and the innovative, hard-rocking sounds of his new album will be showcased in a series of unique performances slated for release of his first true solo album. Featuring an all-star roster of guest musicians, "Slash" will be available April 6, 2010.

Anticipation has been building for the album since the recent release of the first single, "By The Sword", featuring Andrew Stockdale of WOLFMOTHER, which is currently in rotation at rock radio. To kick of his album release, Slash will be the featured performer at Revolver Golden Gods Awards, with several of his album collaborators making special guest appearances. The laws on homosexual marriage in California are just stupid

The thing was that they wanted to pass a law so that one way or the other it was either going to be legal to have gay marriage in California, or illegal. You had to vote on it, and that was Proposition 8 – if you voted for it, it meant that it would become illegal, and if you voted against it meant that gays could get married. Now, I've been in Los Angeles for a lot of years and with West Hollywood being very close – and having lived in West Hollywood – I have a lot of gay friends; my wife especially has a lot of gay friends and when that was all going on we just felt that we should be supportive. At this point it's ridiculous that two people, regardless of their sex, can't get married. It just seems stupid.

I'm not on some sort of gay rights crusade!

You won't find me at the front of a parade rally, y'know, but there've been things that I've felt strongly about. I remember back in the day when the whole Iraq war was started, I was definitely against that and was part of a political rally against it. I'm not a politician though, and I don't like to go out in a limb and become a ‘big advocate' kind of a guy, it's just not really my style.

The YouTube video I made against Proposition 8, for example, has been taken a bit too seriously

A friend of ours actually taped that, and in fact it was his idea too! I think at the time my wife was like, 'do you want to do this?' I said yeah, so we just did it then and there in the rehearsal studio. It's so funny how things can be taken too seriously, especially nowadays; you put stuff out on video and it's there forever and people take them so seriously.

A marriage, gay or otherwise, takes effort and perseverance to succeed

I've already been married once; I had to go through the trial marriage! I think a lot of it has to do with how, as people, we [me and my wife] are both put together because she's really unique and I'm not really the marriage type; she and I just have this certain kind of ‘bond', and she's definitely a certain kind of girl, just a really cool and fucking rock and roll female. We first met before I got married to my first wife – so I was like 25 and she was 18 – and I was really taken by her, even back then. But I was way too crazy then to even conceive of going into a relationship with someone that I really cared about, so I got into a relationship with someone that I didn't really care about! Years later though, we got reintroduced and we've been together ever since. And it's hard work, relationships take a certain amount of effort but we manage to persevere, and, y'know, I love her to death and she's very loyal. We're very faithful to each other and it's a very cool, rock and roll marriage.

Regardless of my personal beliefs on marriage, no one has the right to tell two people that they can't get married

My wife might fucking shoot me for saying the wrong thing here! Personally – and this isn't the bigger picture, this is just for me personally – I never really believed in the institution of marriage as being necessary. With Perla [Ferrar], she and I were together for four years before marriage came up, and she was like: 'well, at this point it doesn't look like we're going to split up, what are we going to do?' And I could have just been like: 'yeah, whatever'. But she really wanted marriage and so we ended up getting married... and there you have it! I think a marriage is whatever you want it to be, y'know? Obviously it exists if you feel strongly that that sort of legal and religious bond is integral to your longevity as a couple, I'm not one of those people that have super strong religious beliefs about whether you should or shouldn't get married though. But being told that you can't? I don't think that's right.

Le leggi sui matrimoni omosessuali in California sono così stupide

Volevano passare una legge secondo cui i matrimoni omosessuali in California sarebbero stati legali o illegali. Dovevi votare e si chiamava Proposition 8 – se votavi a favore, sarebbero diventati illegali, se votavi contro allora i gay potevano sposarsi. Vivo a Los Angeles da molti anni e sono molto vicino a West Hollywood – ed ho anche vissuto a West Hollywood – ho tanti amici gay; soprattutto mia moglie ha tanti amici gay e quando stava accadendo questa cosa sentimmo di dover essere a favore. A questo punto è ridicolo che due persone, intipendentemente dal loro sesso, non possano sposarsi. Sembra semplicemente stupido.

Non faccio parte di una sorta di crociata per i diritti gay!

Non mi troverete in prima linea ad una manifestazione gay, ma ci sono cose che ho veramente a cuore. Mi ricordo quando cominciò la guerra in Iraq, ero totalmente contro e facevo parte di manifestazioni politiche contro. Non sono un politico comunque e non mi piace espormi e diventare avvocato di qualcosa, non è il mio stile.

Lo girò un nostro amico, infatti l'idea fu sua! Mi ricordo che mia moglie mi chiese "Voui farlo?" e io dissi si, così lo facemmo in sala prove. E' divertente vedere come le cose possano essere prese troppo sul serio, soprattutto oggigiorno; metti delle cose in video e rimangono lì per sempre e le persone le prendono seriamente.

Un matrimonio, gay o no, richiede sforzo e perseveranza per avere successo

Sono già stato sposato una volta; dovevo passare attraverso la prova del matrimonio! Penso che dipenda molto da come, come persone, noi [io e mia moglie] siamo combinati assieme, perché lei è davvero unica e io non sono proprio il tipo da matrimonio; lei ed io abbiamo questo tipo di "legame", e lei è sicuramente un certo tipo di ragazza, proprio una fighissima e fottuta donna rock and roll. Ci incontrammo la prima volta prima che mi sposassi con la mia prima moglie - avevo circa 25 anni e lei 18 - e fui molto preso da lei, già allora. Ma ero troppo pazzo allora per concepire una relazione con qualcuno di cui mi importava davvero, così mi buttai in una relazione con qualcuno a cui non tenevo! Comunque anni dopo, fummo ripresentati e siamo stati assieme da allora. Ed è un lavoro difficile, le relazioni comportano un certo sforzo ma riusciamo a perseverare e la amo da morire ed è molto leale. Siamo fedeli l'uno l'altra ed è un matrimonio rock and roll molto figo.


Indipendentemente dalle mie convinzioni personali sul matrimonio, nessuno ha il diritto di dire a due persone che non possono sposarsi

Mia moglie potrebbe spararmi per aver detto la cosa sbagliata per questo! Personalmente - solo per quanto mi riguarda - non ho mai creduto che l'istituzione del matrimonio sia una cosa necessaria. Con Perla [Ferrar], eravamo insieme da quattro anni prima che giungesse il matrimonio, e lei disse: 'beh, a questo punto non sembra che ci lasceremo, cosa faremo?' E avrò detto 'si, vabbé'. Ma lei davvero voleva il matrimonio e alla fine ci siamo sposati... ed ecco qui! Io penso che il matrimonio sia qualunque cosa tu voglia che sia, capisci? Ovviamente esiste se senti davvero che quel tipo di legame legale e religioso è parte integrante della vostra longevità come coppia, non sono uno di quei tipi che ha dei super sentimenti religiosi per cui qualcuno dovrebbe o non dovrebbe sposarsi. Ma essere detti che non puoi? Non credo sia giusto.

SLASH Confirmed For Holland's PINKPOP Festival - Mar. 23, 2010
Former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has been confirmed for this year's Pinkpop festival, set to take place May 28-30, 2010 in Landgraaf, Netherlands.

Slash has unveiled the lineup of his touring band, which will take to the road this spring in support of Slash's self-titled debut solo album. Joining previously announced vocalist Myles Kennedy from ALTER BRIDGE will be rhythm guitarist Bobby Schneck, who's toured with WEEZER and GREEN DAY, ALICE COOPER and VINCE NEIL drummer Brent Fitz, and BIG WRECK bass player Dave Henning.

Slash told The Pulse of Radio that he's really pleased to have Kennedy singing on the tour. "He was one of these sort of youngish rock singers that I wasn't real familiar with, who is probably one of the best, you know, young new rock 'n' roll singers around," he said. "There's actually two songs on the record that he did, and he can basically perform any other songs on the record, plus he knows how to do all the GUNS N' ROSES stuff. So it's worked out nicely."

Slash's solo album is due out on April 6.

The first single from the set, called "By The Sword", features vocals from WOLFMOTHER frontman Andrew Stockdale.

The guitarist uses a different guest vocalist on each track, including Fergie, M. Shadows, Kid Rock, Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, Lemmy Kilmister, Iggy Pop and others.
