NEW PROJECT GLOBAL SOUND LODGE FOR HAITI
Long time musical partner Lanny Cordola and myself have formed Global Sound Lodge
A new musical consciousness. Our first song entitled “Hands Together ” was written for the Hatian people
in this time of tragedy in their homeland. We hope to build a group of international musicians with varied
humanitarian efforts based on situations around the world that need our attention. John Coltrane believed
music can heal the world in his song” Love Supreme”. John Lennon had this vision as well. GSL have songs ready to record
for Aung San Suu Kyi, Neda who was shot during the Iranian elections.
After many years traveling the world playing music and meeting so many people.I believe it is in us all to come together
with love and music to help one another.
love one another my friends,
Matt

Iconic rock figure and legendary guitarist Slash in rare one-on-one at Canadian Music Week 2010
Canadian Music Week: Music Business 3.0 The Next Generation
March 10 - 14, 2010
TORONTO, Jan. 19 /CNW/ - A musician, artist and iconic rock figure, Slash is recognized as an indelible force in the world of music today. Time Magazine recently chose him as one of the best electric guitarists of all time, along with Hendrix himself. To us, he is the man who defined the sound of Guns N' Roses and the last great guitar god. With album sales nearing the 100 million mark, seven Grammy nominations, and countless music projects, Slash will be sharing memories and insights on life, love and playing loud during a very special in-depth celebrity interview at Canadian Music Week on Thursday, March 11, 2010.
Since bursting onto the scene in 1985 with Guns N' Roses, Slash has become one of the most admired virtuoso axmen of the century, providing some of rock's greatest anthems. From the unforgettable licks of GN'R classics "Welcome to the Jungle", "You Could Be Mine", and "Sweet Child O' Mine" to Michael Jackson's "Black or White", to his latest offerings with Velvet Revolver, his trademark sound is unmistakable.
A principle and founding member of Guns N' Roses, Slash was instrumental in fueling the band's debut album Appetite For Destruction to critical acclaim, becoming the second highest selling debut of all time and remaining as one of rock's most revered albums. During his time with GN'R, the band released five studio albums, two EPs, one live album, and three music video DVDs.
After departing the group in 1995, Slash formed his own band Slash's Snakepit and released two albums. In 2003 he formed Velvet Revolver with ex-GN'R members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Their debut release Contraband reached multi-platinum success and earned the band a 2005 Grammy Award for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for the track "Slither".
Throughout his career, Slash has performed and recorded with some of the most distinguished names in music including Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, James Brown, and Ray Charles. As a musical director at the 2005 Grammy Awards telecast, Slash led Stevie Wonder, Bono, Brian Wilson, and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith through a stirring rendition of The Beatles' classic "Across The Universe".
At the invitation of several film producers and directors, Slash began scoring music for feature films as well as writing and recording songs for soundtracks. His compositions can be heard throughout the award-winning biopic Ray, as well as box-office blockbusters The Hulk, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Big Daddy, Jackie Brown and Interview With The Vampire. In 2003, he picked up a Grammy nomination for his impassioned interpretation of the Godfather theme, a contribution to the soundtrack for The Kid Stays in the Picture, a documentary about celebrated film producer and his long-time friend, Robert Evans.
In April 2010, Slash will be releasing his debut self-titled solo album through Universal Music. Featuring collaborative performances with some of music's legendary greats and leading contemporaries, the album is certain to become an essential release on many a rock fan's lists.

SLASH - SLASH'S DRUG ESCAPISM
09 January 2010 05:45:25 AM
Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has opened up about his heroin addiction, revealing he ''never stopped'' taking the drug because it suited him ''perfectly''.
Slash took heroin because it "complemented" his personality.
The Velvet Revolver rocker has revealed he was drawn to the Class A drug when he was in Guns N' Roses because it suited him "perfectly" and helped him escape reality.
He said: "Heroin was like the ultimate complement to my personality. It just fitted perfectly. Everyone else was doing coke and speed, and made hyper people even more hyper. Whereas heroin just made me more reclusive and quieter. It was just me and my drug.
"It was escapism for me."
However, the legendary musician admits his addiction eventually became out of control.
When asked how much he used to do, he told GQ magazine: "However much I could get my hands on. If I finished a batch, I'd go hunting for it. It never stopped.
"I always injected. It's the only way as far as I'm concerned, go straight to the source."
These days, the 44-year-old rocker - who has two sons with his wife Perla Ferrar - is currently clean of drugs and has also given up alcohol.
Despite his eventful past, Slash admits he has no regrets.
He explained: "I don't miss it at the moment. Three years ago, I got really stressed because Velvet Revolver were in a state, and my marriage was in a state, and I went back down that road for a while, and while it was fun for a minute, it wasn't nearly as much fun as it had been before. I'd just grown out of that lifestyle.
"I don't regret any of it. I don't believe in having regrets. I haven't killed anyone, or anything like that. But I did go into rehab after that, for a month, and I really haven't wanted drugs since then.
"I dropped everything. And I feel good."

Ho abbandonato tutto. E mi sento bene."

Slash Prefers Playing Guitar Over Sex
When I hear things like that my first thought is that they aren’t doing it right. But this is Slash after all, and I’m pretty sure he knows *cough* what he’s doing. But what he says kind of makes sense:
“Nothing comes close to performing live. It is an out of body experience. Drugs can take you there for a second, and sex has its place, but it’s organic and you can have it all the time, so it doesn’t really compare.”
He was actually referring to a specific outdoor Guns N Roses performance in Argentina where they were playing November Rain and it started pouring out.
When Britain’s GQ Magazine asked if he would rather play that gig or have sex, Slash said:
“I’d do the show. I can have the best sex again anyway. But even if I couldn’t, I’d still go for that show in Argentina. It was something that all musicians chase, the ultimate high.”
________________________________________
"Niente è comparabile all'esibirsi live.
"Preferirei lo show.
